Minnesota Coalition for Healing is a non-profit organization whose mission is to provide psychological, physical and medical resources for people escaping situations of organized violence.

The clients we serve often come from backgrounds of human trafficking, religious cults, and gang affiliation. In these organizations, people are viewed as commodities having no rights.  Those in power work very hard to retain what they feel are their “possessions”, thus our clients are relentlessly and violently pursued and recruited back.  Conditioning, dissociation, self-hatred and post-traumatic stress are challenges that these clients suffer, all of which require consistent and specialized interventions.

I am a survivor of trauma and survivors like me have a unique and complex healing process. It's not just about going to therapy, it's also about figuring out how to live daily life. The impact the trauma I endured had left me with having to re-learn how to live both mentally and in a physical aspect. There were times when I thought there was no way out. Basic daily living needs were out of my grasp and I couldn't afford to take care of myself, nor did I have money for food or gas. Without the constant support from the staff at Midwest Center I know I wouldn't have made it to where I am now. They helped me with food, basic living needs and therapy when I didn't have the means to afford it. Being provided these needs allowed me to continue to live. I will forever be grateful for the ways I have been blessed by the staff at Midwest Center.”
